The present generation is very well aware of their responsibilities towards our planet. We all are concerned about keeping the planet green and for this reason we endeavour to shrink our personal ‘carbon footprint’ or ‘ecological footprint’, to save the earth for our future generations.
With the growing technology, carbon prints left by each one of us are also increasing day by day. However, there needs to be a stop somewhere. In this article, we will discuss tips and ways of reducing our own carbon prints in our own little ways.
STEPS TO REDUCE OUR INDIVIDUAL ECOLOGICAL FOOTPRINT:
Following are few simple steps, which can be easily incorporated in our daily lives and lifestyle and you can easily follow them at your home, work place, and everyday life.
Step 1: Use reusable shopping bags. Bags, especially plastic bags, end up being dumped in large amounts every day. They consume a huge amount of energy during their production process and take million years in getting degraded. Therefore, using reusable bags is one simple way through which you can make a great contribution towards your planet. These bags are easily available at stores and are very economically priced. Use paper bags, jute bags, cloth bags, etc.
Step 2: Ignore those plastic water bottles and opt for reusable ones. Not only are these reusable water bottles eco friendly, but they are also trendy and attractive in looks. Take your pick from a wide range of designs, shapes and vibrant colours and make a fashion and ecological statement!
Plastic water bottles consume a lot of energy in their manufacturing process. This energy is derived by burning a huge amount of fuel. Thus, not only there is a large amount of fuel wastage for their production, but also a large amount of carbon emissions pollute the environment, which are released while burning the fuels. Moreover, these plastic bottles are non-biodegradable in nature and thus take millions to break down into molecules. Thus, be ditching these bottles in favour of reusable ones, you can considerable reduce your ecological footprint.
Step 3: If possible, plant your own little garden or kitchen garden. By planting and growing your own vegetables, fruits and flowers, you will save a lot of fuel used in transporting vegetables from the farmers to the grocery stores, and from stores to your house.
Planting a garden is not only good for the environment but it is also a known stress buster.
Step 4: Recycle paper. Use the blank back of already used papers for calculations, for making grocery lists, etc. You can also buy recycled papers, which are easily available in stores.
By doing this, you will save a lots of trees from being cut down for producing papers.
We all leave our personal set of ecological footprint, which affects the environment adversely. Thus, these little steps and precautions taken by each one of us can contribute a great deal in protecting the environment.
